I'll reserve judgment till I see the final film. It can either be Texas Chainsaw 2003 lame or Dawn Of The Dead 2004 good.

Yeah. When I first saw it I thought it was okay, even above average, but after a second and third viewing, I found myself not wanting to watch the later half because it's such a messy downhill of sacrelig to the original and was just a bad movie. All of the dialouge is horrible and fake, whereas in the original it's natural and real. I can write up an entire rant on the reasons why the original's better, but that's not the point. Both Dawn films are good (original being great) but the reason Dawn's remake is good is that it's a solid film in it's own right and not how much it's different from the original. The point about TCM2003 is that it's such a poorly written, badly acted movie with uninspired villianous characters all shot with pretty cinematography. I still think Ebert overdid his trashing of it, but it by no means a good or average movie either.

wow.... i thought it was a good horror movie. r. lee ermey scared the crap out of me. lol i'm not a fan of the original really but yeah they are both well done movies, the original has been put to classic-ness.. i don't think it deserves that paticularly but i'm willing to live with it i suppose. i bought it so i cant complain about it too much...

dawn of the dead was remade awsome, im so glad they got things right in that movie..wheras..in TCM03 didnt get some CLASSIC scenes in the film..the concept was all the same but they spruced up the dialog more modern and had the kid coming home from mexico? why? why not have then go out and try to find the grave robber legacy they wanted? but coming home from mexico? with a ton of pot?

the guys were going to a skynyrd concert after being in mexico... i don't know why but i'm not a scriptwriter... it doesn't hurt the film at all in my opinion...

Well, something that's glaringly obvious that hurts the film is the "modern" dialouge that's suppose to spruce up the film. It's suppose to take place in 74, yet the characters talk like they dow now, as well as act and dress like they shop at The Gap. Even the look of the film doesn't look like it's in the 70's.

i guess i wasn't paying as close to the dialogue and stuff as i could have. it didn't seem overly 2000-ish to me.. and the clothes really didn't look gap either. jessica biel in jeans and a white tank top does not strike me as gap-ish. i guess i see your point though. as a horror movie though i thought it was good. i don't regret buying (and don't regret buying the original either) soo yeah.

Oh, I bought the remake, if only for that packaging of that 2 disc special edition. Freaking great design.

I thought the remake was much better than the monotonous original which gets boring after the first viewing because it loses it's shock value. Also, the screams by the end are annoying as all hell.

Getting back to the subject. I'm all for a remake of Hills Have Eyes. I mean if it sucks big deal it won't take away from my enjoyment of the original. There is really only a handful of movies I'm dead set against getting remade. Most others are fair game.
