This review will likely be short because I don't want to give away any spoilers. I finally got a chance to watch "Black Christmas" and it lives up to all of the hype. The basic plotline of the movie is a group of sorority girls are preparing for Christmas break when they start getting obscene phone calls. At first they think nothing of it, but as the phone calls increase people start disappearing. One of the many strong points of this movie is the cast. Olivia Hussey and Margot Kidder turn out strong performances. Margot provides much of the humor in the movie. John Saxon plays the Lieutenant assigned to solving the mystery of what is happening in the sorority house. There is also a very strong supporting cast. While not particularly scary, it is still a worthy movie in anyone's horror collection. This ranks right up their with such slasher classics as Halloween (which was originally supposed to be the sequel to Black Christmas). Overall I'd give this an 8 out of 10. A very well done horror movie that everyone should see.

Black Christmas is on the top of my list of DVD's I wish to acquire. I remeber loving it as a kid, but I haven't seen it forever. I refuse to break down and buy it mail order. That violates my principles.
Did you know "When a Stranger Calls", was also originally intended as a sequel to Black Christmas?

I ended up having to order it off of Amazon because I couldn't find it anywhere, foo. I hope you have better luck than I did.

lol....It is directed by the same guy who directed "A Christmas Story". Maybe they'll present it as a Bob Clark double feature.

With my luck, the Bob Clark double feature will be Black Christmas and Superbabies: Baby Geniuses part 2. It will retail for $35.

Granted I only saw the first 20/30 minutes of this film but I thought it was very slow, lame and boring. Why I turned it off.

Well, I recommend giving it another chance Em. Granted, it has a very slow build but it is still a quality film. I understand not wanting to though.

I think the reason I turned it off was because of the slow beginning and the fact I found the sounds made over the phone to be outrageously lame.
